Route Description
Arduous loops around Wyman Road and Lake Sequoyah that are redeemed by remote scenery. A defining climb along the celestially steep Fisher Road. A few eye-watering descents. Windy, low-trafficked roads and staring cattle. Topped off with a designated finish line and light regroup after the one-lane bridge.
Ride Notes
Neutral Rollout:
- Head South on Church Avenue to Center Street and then School Avenue
- Turn left at the light onto 15th Street
- Stay right on Huntsville Road, past Crossover Road, and turn left at the light onto Stone Bridge Road
- Turn right at the stop sign onto Wyman Road
Ride Begins:
- As soon as the group veers left at the intersection of Wyman Road and Harvey Dowell Road, riders are free to start opening it up.
- There will be a sharp left on Wyman Road (gravel road to the right); watch for traffic coming from the left when turning left.
- Turn right onto Fisher Road (long, steep climb) and hold on for dear life.
- Fast descent on a narrow road that eventually turns into an intersection; make sure there is no traffic coming from the left and stay straight.
- Long, exposed descent into a windy left turn along Lake Sequoyah Road that crests into the finish line (near the blue shed on the right; there will be a line on the road) — do not sprint with your head down or far into the left lane; be smart.
- Light regroup after crossing the one-lane bridge and up the short hill; chill pace through this section and for a little while after.
- Turn right for a brief ride on a busy Huntsville Road; keep it tight.
- Turn right onto Mally Wagnon Road.
- Keep pace tame all the way until the three-way intersection/stop sign; turn right and race pace is on again (after final lap, turn left here to return to town).
- Complete another lap (lap counts will vary by week, depending on daylight).
- Return to Puritan the same way we came, with the exception of hopping onto the trail from 15th Street just before School Avenue.
